We are not defenseless against COVID-19. Cloth face coverings are one of the most powerful weapons we have to slow and stop the spread of the virus – particularly when used universally within a community setting.” –

CDC Director Dr. Robert R. Redfield.

Transmission

How COVID-19 spreads

The virus that causes COVID-19 is thought to spread mainly through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks.

Our masks

Using cloth face coverings prevents hoarding of medical masks. Surgical and N-95 masks are critical resources needed by healthcare workers and other first responders.

WHY ARE MASKS EFFECTIVE?

  • Help to slow and stop the spread of the virus
  • Remind people not to touch their faces
  • Remind people to maintain distance with others.
  • Prevent droplets that carry the virus from escaping and infecting others.
  • Reduce asymptomatic transmission

“By wearing a face mask there is just a 3% chance of spreading COVID-19” – The Lancet, June 3, 2020.

Protection of vulnerable groups

COVID-19 kills the vulnerable, the elderly and the immunocompromised. Those who survive may face weeks or months of slow, painful recovery, and may never fully come back 100%.

Masks donations and using masks in public are a form of source control, preventing those who are sick from easily infecting the vulnerable.
